The Conspiracy Theory- Of course, the conspiracy theory. There always has to be a conspiracy theory for everything, from 9/11 to i guess HIV. What the heck?? Why do people always want to find some weird and disturbing way to prove something. The conspiracy theory as it relates to HIV states that was manufactured as part of a biological warfare programme, designed to wipe out large numbers of black and homosexual people. I think this is completely ludicrous and has no backbone to stand on. There is no evidence and no smoke so no fire. Get off the conspiracy theories people!!!
The 'Hunter' Theory- The hunter theory is the most commonly accepted theory on how HIV was born. SIV was transferred to humans as a result of chimps being killed and eaten or their blood getting into cuts or wounds on the hunter. This is very plausible because you could see how interaction with wild animals, especially chimps, could really birth a new disease in humans that was never seen before.
I think that out of these two theories the Hunter theory is by far the more believable one. I have a strong opposition to conspiracy theories as it relates to anything.
I don't see the grave importance in finding out where the disease started and to try to pinpoint and develop a cure that way. I think our resources should all be put into finding a cure for HIV and not looking into the past of how it might have infiltrated the population. I think it would nice to know and interesting for people studying the virus but i do not think it is necessary.

I agree with Ben about the Conspiracy Theory, this is not some thing that any one want or even thought of doing.
ReplyDeleteI disagree on thing that Ben points out about finding the cure HIV and how finding the source of HIV can't help us. The reason for that is we can find the host that transmitted this virus and analyze the host to see what he/she has that keep him/her alive. This way we can focus on the cure a lot more.
